Psychological Assessments

Psychological assessments use clinical interviewing and standardized tests to evaluate cognitive, behavioral, and emotional functioning.

Common reasons for referral include assessment for ADHD, ODD, autism, PTSD, mood disorders, and personality disorders.

Psychological evaluations can be used for diagnostic clarification and to aid in treatment planning.

How An Assessment Can Be Helpful:

  • Obtain diagnostic clarification for clients who present with symptoms that have unclear etiology to inform therapeutic and psychiatric intervention (e.g., anxiety/ADHD, bipolar/BPD, autism/social anxiety).
  • Help clinicians formulate a comprehensive treatment plan that takes into account cognitive and psychological strengths and weaknesses, as well as other psychosocial factors.
  • Standardized assessment provides documentation that will help qualify clients for services such as ABA therapy, special education, academic accommodations, and disability benefits.
